With its active fishing industry (Old Town), Hastings has lots of Fish and Chip shops as well as the usual Italian, Chinese, Indian, Thai and even a Swedish restaurant.
West Hill Lift Cafe Castle Hill Road (01424 429636)
West Hill Lift Cafe can be found at the top of the West Hill Lift, between the Smugglers Caves and Hastings Castle. It has a very wide selection of offerings including omelettes, baguettes, jacket potatoes, curries etc. Also available is a selection of excellent fresh home made cakes.
From the patio area the cafe has excellent views over the old town, the beach and the fishing port. If you want to drive up to this cafe, parking is available on the road side (pay at meter).
Old Town Fish Bar (01424 420976)
The Old Town Fish bar is located on the sea front with an alternative access from George Street. It serves up the traditional fish and chip selection. You have to option of eat in or take away.
Whites Seafood and Steak Restaurant (01424 719846)
Located on George Street just off the sea front this is a very popular restaurant and booking is recommended. A wide selection of fresh fish, shell fish and steaks. In addition to the main menu there is a specials board too. More information www.whiitesbar.co.uk.
Cosmo Chinese (Buffet 01424 717676, a la carte 01424 717979)
Located on the sea front this restaurant is split into two parts - the a la carte restaurant is upstairs with the access door on the left hand side of the building and a buffet restaurant below accessed from the street on the right hand side of the building. White Hart (01424 813187)
The White Hart is a Beefeater Pub/Restaurant. It is just outside of Hastings on the A259 towards Rye in the village of Guestling. The food is the standard Beefeater selection but the views from the beer garden are worth stopping for.
